It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Frank Scott Amundsen, 76, of Pocatello, Idaho. He was surrounded by family during his passing on February 7, 2024 in Salt Lake City, Utah following a courageous battle with lymphoma.
Scott was born August 15, 1947 to Frank Henry Amundsen and Lorna Louise Couch Amundsen in Salt Lake City, Utah. He spent his youth in American Falls, Idaho and moved to Pocatello Idaho in his teen years. He attended Pocatello High School and graduated in 1966. Scott married Phyllis Millward in 1968 and during their 30 year marriage, they raised 8 children together. Scott served in the Army in Vietnam and then upon his return, he began a 50 year career becoming a familiar face at Albertsons. In 2003, he married Yolanda "Lonnie" Amundsen and affectionately became known as Papa Scott to her 3 children and grandchildren.
Scott loved living out in the country where he enjoyed horses and loved many dogs and cats throughout his life. He enjoyed bowling and making family memories with an annual camping trip to Hebgen Lake.
He is survived by his wife, Yolanda "Lonnie" Amundsen, his sons, Cory (Kristen) Amundsen, James Amundsen, and Casey Amundsen, and his daughters, Heidi (Kevin) Orr, Amber Amundsen-Hansen, and Ashley Amundsen (Jarod Nalder), as well as grandsons Jordan, Tyler, Zachary, Benjamen, Joshua, Chase, Tyton and Hudson and granddaughters Kaitlyn, Tristen, Juanita, Jaycie, Ellie, Bailey, Ashlynn, and Lily, two great-granddaughters Mila and Olivia; sisters, Rosalind Boyack and Meredith Heier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sons Andrew Amundsen and Jeremy Amundsen, and his son-in-law Joshua Hansen.
A graveside service will be held in his honor on Friday February 16, 2024 at 11:00 am at Mountain View Cemetery.
