Frank Rosa

September 16, 1949 — April 15, 2024

Frank Dean Rosa passed away at Portneuf Medical Center on April 15, 2024, from a major stroke after several years of declining health. Frank was born in Pocatello, Idaho where he has lived all his life.  He was born on September 16, 1949 to Dino J. and Velma Rosa. Frank was the second of seven children. He attended Pocatello High School where he graduated in 1967. After high school, Frank went on to attend Idaho State University and joined the Army as a Military Police Officer.

Frank married Martha Hom and had 2 children, Heather and Frankie. They later divorced. After the divorce, Frank began to date Susan Kimball, whom he dated in high school. They were married and had 3 children, Hailey, Elisabeth and Quest. With Susie’s son Davis, that made a household of 6 children.

Frank held many different jobs over his life. He worked as a welder at Bucyrus-Erie and Union Pacific Railroad. He did carpentry and concrete work and owned Gate City Construction. He most recently was a Millwright with the Carpenter and Millwright Local Union 808.

Frank loved to tell jokes and was pretty funny. Even when his memory started to go, he never lost his sense of humor. He was known for starting water fights, especially at family reunions.

Frank’s favorite calling was that of Scout Master. He loved being in the Scouts and he loved mentoring the boys. He tried to get all the boys he ran across to join scouts. He took his family with him on many scouting adventures as well. Adult men have stopped him on the street to tell him that he was their Scout Master when they were young and how much they appreciated him.

Frank loved to take photographs and was an avid outdoors-man. He loved wildflowers, horses, hunting, fishing, and camping. He loved to take his children and grandchildren to enjoy these activities whenever he could. Frank loved to help others. He was always giving food, a ride, or a job to someone in need. He did many repairs for people who could not pay.

Above all, Frank loved the Lord, his children, grandchildren, and his sweet wife. Frank and Susie were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple in 2019. Susan passed away on September 13, 2022.

Frank is survived by his 6 children, Heather Schlenker, Frank Rosa, Hailey Kotter, Elisabeth Rosa, Quest Rosa, stepson Davis Jacobson, and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his dear wife Susan, his parents Dino and Velma Rosa, a grandson Britain Jacobson, nephew Jesse Rosa as well as many other extended family members.

The family wishes to express thanks to: Monte Vista Skilled Nursing, Symbii, Enhabit, Heritage and Brio Home Health Services, Portneuf Medical Center, Pocatello Senior Activity Center, Meals on Wheels, Laura and Jaedon Rosa, and the many family and friends who have helped with his care.
