Frances Roberts

Due to a massive stroke, Frances V. Roberts passed from this earthly plane on January 8, 2013 to join her heavenly family. Frances V. (Slemp) Roberts was born April 30, 1925 in Sumpter Oregon to parents William R. Slemp and Ella R. Smith Slemp. She was the 6 th of 8 children. Frances attended schools in Baker Oregon. When employed at a tuna factory in Astoria Oregon, she became a widow at age 25 with two children. Later Frances met and married a wonderful young sailor, Ray C. Roberts. They moved to dad's hometown of Pocatello, where they lived for many years. They were blessed with three more children. Mom held several jobs in the Pocatello area, at National Laundry, Lamb Weston, and ISU housekeeping retiring at age 70. Frances' hobbies were crochet, sewing, embroidery and she especially loved her flowers. She loved to travel. She didn't need fancy trips; just a nature drive was good for her. Mom shares many loving memories with family and friends on the Oregon Coast and at the Island Park cabin. Mom and Dad's greatest love besides their own, was family. Everyone felt welcome in their home. Frances is survived by her beloved husband Ray, of over 60 years; her children, Glenda V. Vaughn, Pocatello, Wayne E. Newton, Pocatello, Josie M. Hager (Randy), Pocatello, Ronda C. Kirkland (James), Pocatello, and Phillip R. Roberts (Ellen), McCammon, along with seven grandchildren; Samm Smith, Shanna Grant, Amy Evers, Evett Gradwahl, Alexis Fisher, Keegan Kirkland and Madison Kirkland, and ten great-grandchildren; Briare and Lauren Bertoch, Jeremiah Smith, Gabe and Justice Fisher, Emma and Kallie Evers, Ainsley Gradwahl, Kyson Exeter and Orion Wheeler-Kirkland. Mom's wishes of cremation will be honored. There will be a small memorial service held Saturday January 12, 2013 at 2pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S Fourth Ave., Pocatello.
