Frances Delores Ashcroft

May 2, 1936 — February 9, 2024

Frances Delores Ashcroft, 87, passed away on February 9, 2024.

Frances was born and raised in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1954 and moved to Pocatello that same year. She was married to Herman Ashcroft, who passed away in 2001. She has three daughters, six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

She retired from the Farm Credit System in June of 1996 (which is currently Idaho Agricultural Credit Association) with over 30 years of service. Positions included Branch Manager/Assistant Vice President of Credit, and at the time of retirement, was the Operations Officer/Administrative Assistant in the headquarters branch in Blackfoot.

Frances was a volunteer fireman with the Pocatello Valley Fire Department from 1981 through 1997. She also volunteered with the American Cancer Society in various positions since 1965. In 2002, at the age of 66, she teamed up with 12 other women on a Woman Tour’s cross country, 59-day, bicycle trip from San Diego, CA to St. Augustine, FL to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Coalition (total funds raised by this group exceeded $38,000). In September of 2006 she was chosen as one of 13 delegates to represent Idaho in the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network’s Celebration on the Hill in Washington, DC. More recently, she has participated in the Relay for Life, holding Chair positions of the silent auction and publicity, and was instrumental in organizing the Paint the Town Purple program. She has volunteered for Paint Fest and for various functions in Old Town Pocatello.

Frances is a member of the Bannock Civitan Club, of which she was a Board Member, past President, and participated in the Civitan/SEICCA Children’s Christmas Party, Camp Taylor Campout (for people with disabilities), Youth Seminar, Foster Children’s Backpack Program, and the Civitan Relay for Life team. She belongs to Idaho State University’s New Knowledge Adventure Program, and presently belongs to Pocatello Elk’s Club #674 and is a member of Chapter BJ in the Sisterhood of P.E.O.

Her current hobbies include golfing, reading, crocheting, pinocle, hand & foot card clubs and spending time with friends and family.

Volunteering has been a passion for Frances, but her greatest achievement in life is, by the grace of God and good doctors, surviving cancer to raise her three beautiful daughters and watch her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow.

Frances is survived by her daughters, Connie (Dave) Doerr of Pocatello, ID, Linda (Terry) Trujillo of Mackay, ID, and Sandra Packard of Pocatello, ID; grandchildren, Stacey King, Derrica Packard, Will Anderson, Jessie Trujillo, Carrie Larson, and Misty Anderson; great grandchildren, Page, Caitlynn, Jonah, Ellie, Isaac, Nova, James, and Dawson.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Herman Ashcroft.
