Faye L. Jones Hamlett, 90, passed away on September 12, 2018 at Monte Vista Nursing Home from Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.
Faye was born on July 30, 1928 in Boise, Idaho to Walter and Flora Simmons Dilkes. Her mother passed away at an early age of 23 (1933) and in 1935 she acquired a new "Mother", Vera Webb Sanger.
She attended schools in Boise, ID graduating in 1946 from Franklin High School.
She married George H. Jones in 1946, Boise, ID. They have two children, Dennis Jones, Nampa, Id and Cheryl Tolman, Pocatello, ID. The family moved to Weiser, Wallace and then Pocatello due to George's work. They were later divorced. On August 5, 1967 she married Robert W. Hamlett (Bud) in Salmon, Idaho.
Over the years, she was employed as a salesclerk, waitress, cook, telephone operator and a stay at home mother. After moving to Pocatello, she began employment at Idaho State University in the Registrar's Office from 1964-1968. In September, 1968 she transferred to the College of Education as an advisor and graduation clerk. In 1975, she became the administrative secretary to the Dean of the College of Education, a position she held until her retirement in 1993. After retirement, she continued on a part-time basis as graduation advisor and certification clerk until October, 1993.
Her hobbies included reading, needlecrafts, gardening, traveling, and furniture refinishing.
She is survived by a son, Dennis Jones, Nampa, Id., a daughter, Cheryl Jones Tolman, Pocatello, Id., a step-son, Robert D. Hamlett, Boise, Id., Step-daughter, Roba (Marvin) Johnson, Emmett, Id., granddaughter, Cherro (Chris) Anderson, great grandson, Bobby Neal, great granddaughter, Heather (Justin) Newman; great great grandchildren, MiKaylah, Hunter and Tayson all of Pocatello
She was preceded in death by her parents; step mom; a brother, Gene; a sister Ellen; step-brother, Jack, and step-sister, Jane.
A celebration of life will be held for Bud & Faye at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Wilks Funeral Home 211 W. Chubbuck Road. A light lunch will be served. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
