Evelyne V. Buffat

July 22, 1917 — January 1, 2016

After a long full life, Evelyne Vilate Murri Buffat returned home to her Father in Heaven, January 1, 2016. Evelyne left behind family and friends that will miss her deeply.

Evelyne was born July 22, 1917 in St. Anthony, Idaho to Delta Malea Ford and Frank Edward Murri. She spent her early childhood in St. Anthony. Evelyne graduated from High School in 1935. Following graduation, she attended Ricks College but couldn't finish because of the Depression. She went to work for the Forest Service in 1939 in St. Anthony and later transferred to Ogden, Utah to the Regional Office of the Forest Service. Following several promotions, Evelyne had a chance to move to Pocatello where she met her love Jack Buffat.

Evelyne married Jack on May 17, 1946, becoming best friends and sweethearts for the next 62 years. Through their union came their precious angel, Norma Jean and their loving son, Stephen Jack. Her best friend and husband returned to his Father in Heaven April 24, 2009.

Evelyne was employed as an office assistant and book keeper for the Forest Service, Idaho Bank and Trust, Flaherty's, Sterling and Keeleys, and the Pocatello Dental Group, finally retiring in 1979. Throughout her married life, Evelyne enjoyed spending her time with the family, doing family things. She loved fishing, boating, floating, picnicking, arrowhead hunting, traveling and spending time at their cabins in Island Park. Evelyne joined the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and was a member for several years. She joined and was very active with a pinochle club and played cards for nearly 22 years. Evelyne and Jack enjoyed their retirement years traveling, fifth wheeling, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, arrowhead hunting, fishing, and all of the other things they loved and enjoyed doing together and with their close friends. They did everything together…they were inseparable. Evelyne and Jack treasured the many years they shared together, doing all the things they did and sharing their last days together. Evelyne lived a full and happy life on this earth.

Evelyne leaves behind her son, Stephen Jack Buffat; 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grand-children. Her parents, her husband Jack, and her daughter Norma Jean preceded her in death.

Funeral services for Evelyne will be held at 11:00AM, Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at the Cedar 2nd Ward LDS Chapel, 225 Oakwood Drive. Her interment will follow the services at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
