Evelyn Richmond

September 14, 1935 — September 13, 2024

Pocatello

Evelyn Mae Barnard Richmond, a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on September 13, 2024, at the age of 88 (one day before her 89th birthday).

She was born on September 14, 1935, in Pocatello, Idaho to Eugene Laconius and Rose Marie Meese Barnard. Evelyn married Bobbie Leonard Richmond on June 16, 1956.

Evelyn graduated from Pocatello High School in 1954, St. Anthony Hospital School of Nursing, Idaho State University and St. Joseph’s College at Windheim, Maine. Evelyn was a licensed R.N., and received her Nursing Home Administrators license in 1979 and earned a Bachelor of Science in the Professional Arts (BSPA) with a major in Health Care Administration in 1986.

Evelyn started her career in healthcare working for 13 years for the late David C. Miller, MD, Internal Medicine. She next worked as Director of Nursing Services for Consolidated Medical Corp and was responsible for patient care services at both Hillcrest Nursing Home and Eastgate Healthcare.

She then accepted the position as Director of Nursing Services at the Bannock County Nursing Home in October 1972. In November 1987 she was appointed Associate Administrator of Operations of the Bannock County Nursing Home. She received medical retirement in 1991.

After she retired, she was devoted to her children and especially to her grandchildren. They were the love of her life. When asked if she could watch them, it was always “there is nothing that we are doing that they can’t come along with us”. She was very family oriented, with family get togethers, holidays, birthdays, vacations with her family, etc… and always had a camera in her hands.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Laconius and Rose Marie Meese Barnard; husband, Bobbie Leonard Richmond; sister, Cleo Rose Barnard (Arthur Schettler); sister, Grace Jean Barnard Peterson, (Alvin “Red” Peterson); brother, Eugene L. “Bud” Barnard (Carrol Howell Barnard) and brother, Edward Thomas Barnard (Margaret Seerwerker).

She is survived by Bobette Joan Wilson and Brent Leonard Richmond (Patti Bell Richmond); grandchildren, Bobbie Leonard Richmond (Savanna Stewart), Lyle Christopher Richmond (Sadi Viehweg), Michael James Richmond, Holly Marie Wilson, and one great-grandson, Coleson Scott Richmond belonging to Bobbie and Savanna.

Evelyn was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings.

Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, on Monday, September 23, 2024, with a viewing at 11:00 a.m. and funeral services at 12:00 p.m., 655 South Grant Avenue, Pocatello, Idaho.
