Evalyn Crockett, 96, passed away in her home on Thursday, August 8, 2013 surrounded by many of her loved ones. Evalyn was born in Thayer, Missouri to John Lewis Gray and Virginia Perkins on May 7, 1917. Evalyn's full name was Martha May Evalyn Gray. She was the seventh of nine children. At six months old her family moved to Idaho, where she lived her life. In 1936, Evalyn met the love of her life, Frank (Marvin) Crockett, and on March 9, 1937, they eloped. They were blessed with four daughters, Camilla, Sandra, and Kathleen, and Lora. Evalyn succeeded at sports, especially basketball. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Her favorite spot to vacation was Castle Creek Campground at Anderson Ranch Reservoir, which Marvin had helped build. She played in a pinochle club, enjoyed walking, baking, swimming, reading, spending time with her grandchildren, providing words of wisdom, and always speaking her mind. She converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was baptized on June 1, 1946. She and Marvin were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on February 16, 1963. Marvin passed away on December 24, 1997. In 1998, Evalyn moved in with her daughter, Sandy, who lovingly cared for her until her death. Evalyn is survived by three daughters; Sandy Carlson, Katie Linde, and Lora (Gail) Burton; son-in-law Don Pachner, and a sister-in-law, Deanne Gray. She had 16 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, daughter Camie, and three sons-in-law: Norman Islitzer, Leonard Carlson, and Mike Linde. Funeral services for Evalyn will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 16, at the LDS church on the corner of 4 th Avenue and Fredregill Road in Pocatello. A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 15 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral the following day from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Condolences for the family may be sent online at www.
