Eugene Lawrence "Gene" Campbell, 74, passed away peacefully at his home on February 14th 2011. Gene was born the first of nine children of Raymond Campbell and Arta Wheeler Campbell in Hamlin,West Virginia. In his youth he loved hunting, fishing, and the out of doors. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as jet mechanic and systems supervisor. He was a career military man serving primarily in Japan, Taiwan, Philippines, Spain, Vietnam, Germany and England. He retired from the military after 20 years in 1975. On December 27, 1976, he married Rebecca Due�as together they raised 7 children; Lisa, Eugene Jr., Crystal, Callie, Peter, Rachelle and Gehrald. It was also in 1976 that he continued his employment at J. R. Simplot as an electrical supervisor for an additional 19 years. After Simplot he worked 10 more years with the IBEW. Gene was a lifetime member of the NRA, and the Republican party. He was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Gene loved to collect handguns, reload shells, reading, camping, golfing, but he especially loved his family. Gene was hard working and an especially good husband, father, and provider. He was Rebecca's best friend. He is survived by his wife Rebecca, American Falls; children; Lisa (Pat) Langan, Boise, ID., Eugene Jr. (Amber) Campbell, Pocatello, ID., Crystal Campbell, Boise, ID., Callie (Chris) Campbell-Ramirez, Boise, ID., Peter (Leti) Campbell, Arbon, ID., Rachelle (Jarrod) Friesen, Boise, ID., Gehrald Cabrera, Pocatello, ID., siblings; Larry (Linda) Campbell, Denny (Diane) Campbell, Diane (Dennis) Martin, Eilene (Dan) Long, all of American Falls, ID., Jerry( Karen) Campbell, Burley, ID., Shirley Jones, Pocatello, Carl Campbell, American Falls, ID., and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Keith Campbell. A viewing will be held Thursday evening, February 17, 2011 from 6 until 8 pm at the American Falls LDS stake center on Church Way, with Bishop Keith Phillips officiating. Services will be held at 11 am, Friday, February 18, 2011 there at the church. Military honors will follow at the American Falls cemetery.
