Ethelyne K. Roberts, 87, was called home to her heavenly family on July 18, 2013. She was born on October 21, 1925, to Thomas Emery "Doc" and Karen Marie (Knudsen) Roberts in Pocatello, Idaho. She was the second of eight children born to her parents. She met the love of her life Wayne Joseph Bennett in November of 1941 and they were married on January 16, 1942. They were blessed wish six children: Karen Waynette (Karl) VanLeuven, Riverton, Utah; David Joseph Bennett, Rogers, Arkansas; Thomas Ray (T.R.) Bennett, American Falls, Idaho; Nola Elizabeth (Clifton) Robinson, Inkom, Idaho; Katherine Diane (John) Myers, Caldwell, Idaho; and Lynda Loreene (Larry) Hill, Portland, Oregon.
Ethelyne and Wayne were later divorced. Ethelyne raised her six children alone and loved each one of them very much. She moved to American Falls, Idaho where she worked at Lamb-Weston until she retired. She remained in American Falls making her home there for about 46 years. She moved to Inkom, Idaho in 2006 and lived there for a year until her health failed her. She lived with her daughters in Idaho, Utah and Oregon for a time and has resided at Ashley Manor in Chubbuck, Idaho for the past 2 ½ years.
Ethelyne had many hobbies and loved to read, sew, crochet, make porcelain dolls, ceramics and numerous other crafts. Her baby afghans and sweater sets are highly treasured by her grandchildren. She loved music and had an excellent singing voice and could sometimes be heard singing around the house, and she loved to dance. She would often make her own patterns when she made clothes for her children and grandchildren. She loved babies and looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren. She loved to travel and took many ‘spur of the moment' trips with her mother, often just picking a direction to go and seeing where it took them. She never had a lot of money, but if she thought you were in need of something, she would do everything in her power to help in any way she could. Ehthelyne was blessed with: 36 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren and 17 ½ great-great grandchildren. She is survived by: her 6 children, brother, Ray Cecil Roberts of Pocatello, Idaho and a sister Mary Marcile (William) Howard of Austin, Texas.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, brothers: Thomas Emery, William Clarence (Bill), Thomas Duane and Bobbie Lee Robert; a sister, Neva Marie; 1 grandchild and 1 great-grandchild. She was greatly loved by all and will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 27, 2013 at the Skyline LDS Chapel located at 150 Snow Peak Blvd., Inkom, Idaho.
The family would like to thank the staff at Ashley Manor, both past and present, Dr. LaVonne Mills, the staff at Alliance Home Health and Hospice and Wilks Funeral Home for the loving care they gave our mother.
