Emily Barkl York, 95, of Pocatello, Idaho passed away on May 15, 2022. She was born to William and Albena Barkl in Yankton, South Dakota on February 8, 1927, and lived on a farm there with all of her siblings.
Emily moved to Idaho when she was just 16 years old. She later took a job with the Union Pacific Railroad and worked there for most of the rest of her life. She married Norman H. Johnson, and they later divorced. Emily then married Gary B. York.
She enjoyed being involved with the Elks Club, as well as golfing, gardening, and watching Yankees baseball.
Emily was preceded in death by her parents, William and Albena Barkl, as well as seven brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her son Randall Johnson of Connecticut; daughter Jane Guidinger of Pocatello, Idaho; siblings Harold Barkl, Alvin Barkl, and Lavella Lutz; 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Emily’s family would like to offer a special thanks to her son-in-law Maurice, who has been steadfast at taking coffee and breakfast to Emily every day for the past few years.
Per her wishes, no formal services will be held at this time, but may be announced at a later date.
