Elnora Cowlishaw, 92, of Soda Springs, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise, Idaho. She was born April 6, 1917 in Woodruff, Utah to Emma Ann (Jones) Norris and David Patton Norris. Elnora grew up on the family farm and was raised in a household of mostly girls. In her youth she drove a team of horses for the hay derrick. She was also very athletic and enjoyed dancing, track and basketball. She was such a fast runner they would offer to pay her off if she would stop running in the state fairs because she won all the races she ran in. Elnora married Eugene Benjamin Cowlishaw September 2, 1932 in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on July 5, 1953. To this union six children were born; Norris, Richard, David, Rosemary, Jonathan, and Michael. Elnora was a homemaker who loved to care for her kids and dedicated her life to her family and helping others. She was active in Scouting and many other activities to support the growth of her family. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints holding many positions and was also active in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and served as a Cub Scout Leader. She is survived by her children: David Gary (Molly) Cowlishaw, Vancouver, WA, Jonathan (Gayla) Cowlishaw, Boise, ID and Rosemary (Zip) Howard, Fremont, CA, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene, sons, Norris, Richard and Michael and two grandsons. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 12, 2009 at the Hillcrest LDS Chapel, 3200 Cassia St., Boise, ID. A viewing will be held from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Burial will be in the Ogden City Cemetery, 1875 Monroe Blvd.
