Eldon Page

d. May 20, 2011

POCATELLO - Elden Richard Page passed away Friday May 20, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his wife and some of his family. He was born November 11, 1934 in Ogden, Utah, the son of Willard Eugene and Delora Marie Hansen Page of Westpoint, Utah. Elden excelled in almost every sport - playing baseball, basketball, football, running track. After graduating from Davis High School in Ogden he went to Weber State. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the North Central States Mission. He then completed a six month training in the Army Reserve, followed by 5 years in the Army Reserves. He attended Brigham Young University where he met his wife Verda Orah Kemper. They were married in the LDS Temple in Cardston, Alberta, Canada on Oct 18, 1958 He had a natural ability to build and to fix - and during his lifetime built 2 homes for his family, a 16 unit apartment complex, 2 four-plex units, as well as doing numerous remodel and building projects for his friends. These abilities, along with his work with several Construction Companies, led him to a position with School District # 25 as Director of Maintenance and Operations for a period of 22 years. He loved his children, and was actively involved coaching their baseball teams, attending their sporting and musical events, taking them water skiing and snow skiing. With them working at his side, he taught them the value of work - cleaning, painting, mowing yards. Elden was a faithful and dependable member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and served as Financial Clerk, Elders Quorum President, Stake Executive Secretary, Bishop's Counselor, Bishop, High Priest Group Leader, High Councilor. From 1997-98 Elden and his wife Verda fulfilled a service assignment at the BYU Jerusalem Center for Near Eastern Studies for 18 months. In 2002-03 Elden and Verda served a 1 year mission in the Ohio Cincinnati mission, laboring in Martin, Kentucky. Valued friendships obtained from these experiences will never be forgotten. For many years Elden held season passes to the BYU football games that he attended with his brothers. After the missions, he invited his friends to come and watch the games on TV. Good friends and favorite sports - what more could you ask? We will miss his ever friendly parting statement, "Happy Days!" He is survived by his wife, Verda, Pocatello, Idaho, 7 children; Rochelle (Richard) Manning, Lebanon, New Jersey, Linda (John) Mason, Falls Church, Virginia, Laurie (Robert) Munson, Farmington, Utah, Roxanne (Russell) Manteca, Pocatello, Idaho, Tamara (Bryan) Zaccardi, Billings, Montana, Lon Page, Spokane, Washington, R.
