Eldon J Smith

Eldon J Smith, 76 years old, of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho passed away on October 17, 2022 at the Idaho State Veterans Home. Eldon was born April 24,1946 in Soda Springs, Idaho, the 2nd of four boys born to Delmo and Mada Smith. He graduated from Bancroft High School where he played basketball and was the quarterback on the high school football team.

Eldon served in the Air Force from October 1965 to April 1969 as a Sergeant in the motor pool. He attended college in Utah where he played basketball. He also attended Idaho State University. He worked as a general laborer and also worked on his family’s ranch. He worked for Mullen Crane as a Crane Operator for over 20 years.

Eldon enjoyed riding horses, hunting, fishing, riding their razor and playing cards, especially Texas Holdem Poker and Blackjack. He enjoyed listening to Country Western music on drives in the car. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Arizona.

Eldon is survived by his wife, Katherine (Katie) Smith; brothers, Loren Smith, and Dean (Sherri) Smith; as well as many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kent; and his parents.

A graveside service, with military honors, will be held on Monday, October 31, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chesterfield Cemetery, Chesterfield, Idaho.
