POCATELLO - Eldon "Brent" Cunningham, 55, of Pocatello, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2011, at a local hospital. He was born on April 7, 1956, the oldest of six children. He attended Emerson Elementary, Franklin Junior High, and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1975. He spent time hiking up City Creek and was active in football, track, and was a part of the Color guard with the J.R.O.T.C. Brent met his future wife, Gail, on a blind date in Michigan on June 20, 1983. They fell in love and were married on September 22, 1983 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Together they raised five children. Three of the children were Gail's and together they had two children. There were no step or half children, just a loving family. Together they loved Rob, Andrea, Nick, Ryan, and Shay. Brent worked various jobs and was a jack of all trades. Starting in high school he worked for the City of Pocatello Parks and Rec. Then he continued with Associated Foods, Double L.L., Frazier Industrial, and the Carson City Parks and Rec. Brent was an honorary member of Loyal Order of Water Buffalo, and Mystery Inc. He was a die hard Minnesota Vikings fan. He never had a picture taken without a Vikings shirt or hat on. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 41st ward. Brent loved his grandchildren Scotty, Marcus, Tony, Elise, Trinity, Kaden, Logan, Abby, Nevaeh, Aryanna, and Jocelyn. He is survived by his wife Gail; sons Rob (Jessica) of Carson City, NV, Nick (Kristin) of Pocatello, Ryan of Pocatello; daughter Shay of Chubbuck; mother Darla Cunningham of Pocatello; siblings Debra (Skip) Mansfield of Pocatello, Jesse (Holly) Cunningham of Virginia, Lonnie (Julie) Cunningham of Alaska, Scott Cunningham of Pocatello, Lana (Kyle) Taylor of Pocatello; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Eldon and his daughter Andrea McLaren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 18, 2011, at the LDS 41st Ward Chapel, 1700 Kinghorn. A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 17, 2011, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave, and also one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will follow services at Restlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family to help with expenses.
