Our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Elaine Sayer Hillman passed away early Tuesday morning April 6th 2010. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Elaine was the 10th of 13 children, born September 30, 1923 to William and Saray Sayer and was raised in Bone, Idaho. During the harsh winters her family would locate to Yukon to farm.
In August of 1950 Elaine married R. C. ‘Bob' Hillman and raised two boys, Rick and Marty Hillman in Pocatello, Idaho.
In 1953 Elaine and Bob opened the Green Triangle Bar as a supper club and banquet hall. Here they hosted many diplomats, movie stars, recording artist, and charity events. Elaine was the perfect hostess.
Bob, with Elaine's help, was instrumental in building Pari-mutual horse racing in Pocatello. The World Championship Cutter Racing Association also had their support.
In 1976, Elaine and Bob moved close to Rick and Linda where they raised thoroughbred horses to race throughout the state of Idaho. Elaine had many winning horses named after her.
After Bob's death, she enjoyed spending time with the family. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren, Corey and Dana and then her great-grandchildren Riley, Nicholas and Kyler Hillman.
Elaine loved to garden and was well known for her beautiful roses. She would spend her days watching her flowers grow and spoiling her great-grandchildren, who always called her Grandma Honey.
She was always willing to visit and chat with family and neighbors. Elaine was well loved by all. Elaine was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed her visits with her home teachers and Relief Society ladies.
She is preceded in death by her husband, R. C. ‘Bob' Hillman, son Marty Thane Hillman, brothers, Phillip, George, Elwood, Eli, Max, Rex, Nolan and Treasure Sayer and her sisters Belva Delaney and Dot Earl.
She is survived by her son Rick D. Hillman and wife Linda Jo, grandchildren Corey and Dana, great grandchildren Riley, Nicholas, and Kyler Hillman, and her sisters Sharon Whitworth and Ieleen Empey
Thanks to all the many family members and friends who showed so much kindness to our mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed.
