Elaine Christensen

POCATELLO - Elaine Christensen, 85, of Pocatello, passed away at her home on Monday, January 16, 2012. She was born on December 28, 1926, to Leon and Wilma Lamont in St. Anthony, Idaho. She spent her early years there and loved taking care of the animals with her father. She loved the farm life and being outdoors. She later moved with her family to Blackfoot when the family quit farming. She married Vaughn M. Christensen and had six children. They were later divorced. She then married Marion W. Christensen. Elaine worked as a telephone operator when she was first married, but spent most of her life as a housewife on the farm. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and help various callings through her life. She loved being a part of the nursery and spent 20 years in that calling. She was also a foster grandparent for 9 years. Elaine is survived by her sisters Raquel Allen of Pocatello, Irma Tanner of Pocatello, and Elise Creed of Sand Point, Idaho; daughter Carla Martin of Pocatello; daughter Katherine Taylor of Pocatello; son Shawn Christensen of St. Anthony, Idaho; daughter Kelly Almond of Twin Falls, Idaho; 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Marion; sons Keith Christensen and Brett Christensen; and sisters Lucille Jones and Shirley Christoferson. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at the Tyhee LDS Chapel. There will be a gathering of friends and family one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will follow services at the Grove City Cemetery in Blackfoot. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Colonial Funeral Home.
