Efren De Avila Ortiz

Efren De Avila Ortiz, 46, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2019. Efren was born on August 1, 1973 in Villanueva, Zacatecas Mexico. His highest level of education was middle school. As a child he loved playing soccer. At the age of 17 years old he came to the U.S. where he lived in California for three years. He met Debbie Shores in Burley, Idaho and they were married on February 11, 1994. They then decided to move to Pocatello, Idaho. Debbie had two daughters and one son from a previous marriage. Efren loved his step-children; Angela, Junior and Lucia, like they were his own. He always put his family first. Efren worked at Heinz, for several years, as a shipping and receiving operator. After that, he worked at the Union Pacific Railroad as a machine operator. He loved his job very much. Efren was a Denver Broncos fan. He enjoyed driving, dancing and Mexican music. He loved his country of Mexico where he will be laid to rest. Efren is survived by his father, Salvador De Avila; mother, Alicia Ortiz, both of Mexico; daughters, Angela Yanez and Lucia Yanez, both of Pocatello, ID; sister, Rosaura De Avila, Las Vegas, NV; sister, Claudia De Avila, Mexico; brother, Antonio De Avila, Las Vegas, NV; sister, Cruz De Avila, Mexico; sister, Elena De Avila, Mexico; brother, Pedro De Avila, Mexico; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie De Avila; son, Juan Yanez; and cousins, Baltazar De Avila and Benancio De Avila. A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2019 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID. Services will be on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 1 pm at the St. Anthony Catholic Church, 504 N. 7th Ave, Pocatello, ID 83201.
