Edythe Jane Hansen

March 28, 1927 — February 6, 2018

Edythe Jane Hansen, 90, long time Chubbuck resident, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2018 at a local care facility. With her, it made five generations of strong women together to pass her along to Heaven.

Edythe was born March 28, 1927 in North Platte, Nebraska to William Patterson and Myrtle Miller. At an early age her family moved to the Rupert, Idaho area where she was raised and educated.

Edythe married Clay Douglas Hansen and at the time of his death in 2008, they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary.

During most of her working life, she enjoyed working as a cashier, and serving the many faithful customers that befriended her through the years. She worked at several stores, including: Safeway, People's Market, Breezway, Waremart (Winco), and Cub Foods. She loved to tell jokes and used to keep a drawer of candy next to her chair in the kitchen which she loved to sneak to the kids. She loved ice cream and twinkles, she really loved her sweets!

Edythe loved to have pinochle parties with friends and family, cooking and entertaining. She loved to sew and enjoyed knitting. She loved to fish, and many times she was thrilled to catch the largest fish. Her family fondly recalls her refusing to ride in the motorhome as it crossed the bridge at Chesterfield and would get out to make her way on foot with a Budweiser tall boy to keep her company. She always enjoyed family and friends stopping by for a visit, especially over a cold one at the kitchen table. She loved her favorite TV shows, Carol Burnett, The Price is Right and Sonny & Cher. She was a huge Elvis fan!

Edythe is survived by her children, Patricia Green; Cheryl Murray; Susan Hansen, and Douglas Hansen. She is also survived by a sister, Myrtle Winnifred McCarroll, 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 20 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, Clay Douglas Hansen; her best friend and son-in-law, Harvey Green; son-in-law, Neils Hansen; grandson, Michael Green; great grandson, Ryan Green; and a great granddaughter, Nicole Smith.

As loving as she was, if you wanted it sugar-coated, she wasn't your gal! As a family we love our mother and grandmother. It enriched our lives to see the care that has been extended to her through her family and friends. We wish to also express our heartfelt gratitude to Access Home Health and Hospice, Quinn Meadows Rehabilitation and Care Center and Wilks Funeral Home.

There will not be services held for her at this time. She will be interred with her husband at a later date in the Mountain View Cemetery, Pocatello, Idaho. As a family, we hope the sharing of memories and condolences will take place in the "Tribute Wall" tab above.
