Edwin R. Graves ( "Spiv"), 97, died peacefully on Sept. 11 th ., 2011, due to complications from a fall & stroke; his beloved wife, B lanche, was by his side. Ed was born September 9, 1914, the youngest of 4 children, in Filer, Idaho. He grew up there & worked on his fathers' farm and also worked in the Filer Post Office. His parents were "homesteaders" from Kansas; father was Russell Thrall Graves and mother, Gerda Nelson Graves, from Sweden. He married Laura Blanche Churchfield on August 16, 1941. They lived in Buhl, Idaho and later moved to Los Angeles, California, during World War II, where Ed worked for Fletcher Oil Company. The couple moved to Reno, Nevada and Ed worked in the Post Office, where he retired. They moved back to Buhl for several years, then later retired to St. George, Utah. Their lives were filled with the joys of golf, dancing, friends and travel; in fact Ed golfed till age 85. He is survived by his wife, Blanche, his son, Terry (Kathleen), and two great-grandchildren, Shantelle & Austin Graves. Ed was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Mabel, Marion & Richard, and two grandchildren, Gary & Shane. Memorial Services will be held at a later date .
