Edrick Auck Sr., 73, of Fort Hall, Idaho, passed away August 18, 2020 at his home of natural causes. He was born November 18, 1946 in Pocatello, Idaho son of Louis and Mary Phelps Auck. He was raised in Gibson and attended elementary school in Blackfoot. He received his GED from the Idaho State University ABE program. He received his certificate for a carpentry training program at Seattle Central Community College and also took auto body at ISU. He married Carol Sanchez, they were later divorced. Soon thereafter he married Nadine Yupe in December 1975. Edrick started his work life driving potato trucks for local farmers. He then went to Seattle, Washington, and later moved to San Leandro, California where he worked as a machinist operator for Occidental Paper Corporation. Edrick spent most of his life in the construction industry and worked for various local companies including Mitchell Construction, Fort Hall Housing Authority, Shoban Tribes, Douglas Johnson Construction, Taysom Construction, Auck Construction, Arrowhead Construction, and Pamco Contractors of Seattle, Washington. He worked on the Blackfoot Dam, building forms and pouring concrete. He also worked seasonal jobs with wildland fire fighters. He belonged to the Carpenters Union in Pocatello, and he was also a member of the Native American church. His hobbies included; carefully manicuring and maintaining his lawn on his John Deere lawnmower, and taking drives with his dog, Zuiggy. He liked doing beadwork and reading. In his off time, he liked to watch football and boxing and shoot pool. He also enjoyed hunting, salmon fishing, telling jokes and having a good time with friends and family. He is survived by his wife, Nadine Auck; sons, Edrick Auck, Jr., Aaron (Michaelynn Christy) Auck, and Erick Auck; daughter, Carmen Cutler; siblings, Frederick (Velda Racehorse) Auck, Alene (Rudy) Menta, and Louanna Auck; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Mary Auck; sons, Dedrick Auck, and Martin Auck; siblings, Raymond Auck, Lucinda Auck, Rosie Auck, Delwin Auck, Alfred Nagisty, Franklin Nagisty, and Laura Auck; and beloved nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, ID. Please wear a mask and follow social distancing.
Edrick will be taken to the family home, 79 E. Ross Fork Rd., at 10 am on Thursday, August 20, 2020 followed by burial at 1:00 P.M. at the Sands Cemetery, Fort Hall, Idaho. The burial is not traditional but due to COVID-19, and to protect everyones health and safety, we are forced to alter traditional practices. This is something beyond our control.
