Our beautiful wife, mother, sister, aunt, niece and cousin, Edna Mary Sedgwick, age 72, returned to her Heavenly Father on June 24, 2019 following a car accident. She was born June 19, 1947 in Roosevelt, Utah to Jordan Lowell and Rhoda Mary Clement. Edna married her longtime friend and love of her life, Hazen David Sedgwick, on May 21, 1968 in the Oakland, California Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Edna loved to serve others, and her hands were rarely idle. She was known as an earthly angel for all who had the honor of having her in their life. She had a strong love for children and was a dedicated mother to her eight children and many others, including more than 40 foster children, nieces, and nephews. She loved to hug her family and when she had them encircled in her arms, she would say, "I love-a, love-a, love YOU!"
Being raised with seven brothers, she is well-known for being strong-willed, hardworking and always able to "keep up with the boys." She loved woodworking and building; in fact, she crafted the family dinner table that was used for many decades and is still in use today. She grew up in Sacramento, California and with her children and husband moved to Pocatello, Idaho, where they enjoyed their small farm. Edna raised cows, goats, chickens, sheep and many other animals. She taught her children the importance of work through "required" early morning weeding of their very large garden and chores around the farm. Edna absolutely loved flowers and took pride in her colorful flower gardens; she was especially fond of gardenias, roses, lilacs and magnolias. Anyone who came to her home was welcomed by the perfumed scent of her labor of love.
Another one of her passions in this life was her church service. Edna was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She absolutely loved music, especially hymns and church music. Her favorite place to be was the temple, and she served as a temple worker in the Idaho Falls temple for many years. She was looking forward to serving in the new temple being built in Pocatello, Idaho. She loved her Savior and tried her best every day to be an example of His unconditional love to others.
Edna is survived by her husband, Hazen David Sedgwick; children Yvonne Andrus (David), Trina Patterson, Verlene Sedgwick, Hazen Leon Sedgwick (Stephanie), Rhoda Mary Crabb (Shawn), Richard Sedgwick (Michelle), Larry Sedgwick (Brandy); brothers Elmon (Linda), Arden (Julie), Kent (Jonna), Rex (Gale), Roger (Cindy), Martin (Robin) Clement and sister Connie Mickelson; grandchildren Scott (Megan), Nathan (Kelsie), Ryan (Isabel), Kylee, Tanner, Jazzie, Joshua, Brayden, Belle, Emily, Jerika, Wesley, Aliyah, Kyle, Rusty, Dax, Emerie, Brielle, Lucy, Kairi; great granddaughters Rylee and Navy; brother-in-law Stan (Ellen) Sedgwick and sisters-in-law Marilyn (Gary) Scroggins, Jeanie (David) Young, Darlene (Dave) Funk; and her many nieces and nephews. All of these she loved and touched deeply. She is preceded in death by her daughter Nancy Jolynn Sedgwick, brother Thadeus Clement, sister-in-law Ora Leavitt, parents Jordan Lowell and Rhoda Clement, step-mother Ruby Elizabeth (Betty) Clement, and parents-in-law David and Rhea Sedgwick.
