Ed Poston

Eddley G. (Ed) Poston, 81, passed away at home on Tuesday, November 5th 2013 surrounded by his family. Ed was born December 30th 1931 in Livingston, Tennessee, the 3rd child of Terry and Ada Smith Poston. Ed grew up and went to school in Algood, Tennessee. He joined the U.S Air Force when he was 16 years of age in 1948. After 3 years he was discharged and 6 months later he enlisted in the U.S Army and spent the next 17 years serving in France, Germany, Japan, Korea and, Vietnam earning many medals and awards, including the Bronze Star. Ed met and married Kiwako Tokunaga in Tokyo, Japan in March of 1955. They had three children, James Lee (Patti) Poston, Reno, Nevada, Elisa J. Poston, Twin Falls, Idaho, and Vanessa (Phil) Meyer, Minnesota. They Divorced in 1975. Ed served as a U.S. Army Advisor for the Army Reserve Units in Pocatello, ID from 1967 to 1968, and then retired in 1969. After retiring he spent 3 years in South Korea as a Civilian Contractor for the U.S. Army. Ed finally decided to settle down in 1973 and went to work for Clark Real Estate where he worked until his finale retirement at the age of 70. Ed met and married the love of his life, Sandra Call in 1977. Sandra had 2 sons from a previous marriage, Allan (Tresia) Pierson Pocatello, ID and Rich (Gean) Pierson McCammon, ID. Ed raised Allan and Rich as his own boys and they considered Ed their DAD in every sense of the word. Ed and Sandy where blessed with another son in 1978, Eddley M. Poston, Pocatello, ID. Ed enjoyed the outdoors, working, camping in the mountains and fishing. He liked Bowling, Golf and playing Pool. He was a great story teller and loved to sing old silly songs to his children and grandchildren while bouncing them on his knee. He is survived by his wife Sandy, his 6 children, 11 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren, with 1 on the way. One brother, Joe in LA Porte, Indiana, one sister, Connie in Little Rock, Arkansas, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, 2 brothers, 2 sisters one grandchild, and his first wife. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The Family would like to thank Access Home Nurses - a special thanks to a wonderful hospice nurse Hanna for all her help and compassion. There will be a Celebration of Life and Gathering for Ed on Saturday, November 16th at 11:00 A.M. at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 South 4th Avenue.
