Earl Dean Preslar

Earl Dean Preslar, 92, passed away on December 21, 2018, at Portneuf Medical Center of causes incident to age. Earl was born November 7, 1926, in Downey, Idaho, to Leslie and Zoa Preslar and was the youngest of nine children.

Earl grew up working on the family farm and attended schools in Arimo and McCammon. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Aleutian Islands in World War II. Earl was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

At age 21, Earl married 16 year-old Anna Norgaard – a union that lasted 71 years. They made their home in Robin, Idaho, where Earl farmed and worked as a long-haul truck driver. Earl and Anna loved going to dances and playing canasta.

Earl loved to tease. Anyone who knew him was likely a victim of one of his many practical jokes and will fondly remember his loud guffaw of laughter at the joke's result.

After their retirement, Earl and Anna made their home in Pocatello where Earl enjoyed working in his yard, watching boxing matches, taking care of his cats, and visits from his grandchildren.

Earl is survived by his wife, Anna; his sister, Avalon Klein; his children, Terry (Shirleen) Preslar, Gloria (Earl) Preston, Jeffrey (Tracy) Preslar, Gregory (Elaine) Preslar, and Mark (Vinda) Preslar; 21 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings, a son, Larry Preslar, and a grandson, Jess Preston.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 28, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 12146 W. Tyhee Road in Pocatello, Idaho. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Robin Cemetery.
