E. Martin Petersen

August 24, 1943 — December 9, 2018

Earl Martin Petersen Jr., 75, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 9, 2018 in Pocatello, Idaho. Marty was born in Sacramento, California in 1943 to Earl M. Petersen and Margaret Schindler. He was raised in Pocatello and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1961.

Following graduation Marty served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961 to 1964. He had worked for Partner Steel Co. in Pocatello for over 40 years.

Marty was involved in numerous cutter and chariot racing associations. Horse racing was something he had enjoyed for many years. Marty also loved to fish, go hunting, horseback riding, skiing, ATV'ing, camping and training horses. He also liked to golf.

He is survived by his wife, NoraLee Petersen; daughters, Jennifer Brown, Jennifer Petersen, Janene Brown and Erika Weilacher; granddaughters, Kaitlin Chacon, Reanna York, Johnny York and Jordan Smith; sisters, Sherry Powers and Carol Egbert; brother, Jim Petersen; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends at an open house from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Wilks Funeral Home 211 W. Chubbuck Road.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for memorial contributions to be made to the "Horses Run So Children Can Walk" fundraising campaign, in the name of E. Martin Petersen, Jr.to the Shriners Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.
