E. Lorene Schmidt

March 3, 1930 — November 17, 2008

Pocatello " Elizabeth “Lorene” Schmidt, 78, passed away at a local health care facility on Monday, November 17, 2008, surrounded by her family after being ill.

Lorene was born March 3, 1930 in Zincville, Oklahoma. She is a daughter to Felix and Lillian (Martin) Didlot.

Lorene met and later married the love of her life Virgil Eldon “Jim” Schmidt on September 17, 1949. She was the perfect match for him. Together they had many happy memories of Life, Love, and Family that ensued for the next 59 years and two months. They had three children, Jimmy, Sharon, and Carolyn.

Lorene was educated in bookkeeping, and key punch. She was the neighborhood watch block captain for seven years. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, dancing, flower and vegetable gardening, sewing, knitting and crocheting, decorating, and watching birds, (her favorite was the Humming Bird).

Lorene is survived by her husband V.E. “Jim” Schmidt of Pocatello Idaho; a son, Jimmy (Teresa) Schmidt of Chubbuck,Idaho; a sister Delores (Clark) Fairchild of Heyburn, Idaho; two daughters, Sharon (Rodger) Valad Hersey, Michigan; Carolyn (Bill) Schoen Las Vegas, Nevada.
She has 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix & Lilian Didlot, and two grandsons Christopher & Daniel Schmidt.

She will be missed by all of our family, who appreciate all the love, work and companionship she gave to us all. May the good Lord keep her in His care.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm Thursday, November 20, 2008, at the Chubbuck LDS 12th Ward Chapel, 450 James Street, with Bishop David L. Sorensen conducting. The family will receive friends at a viewing from 12pm-12:45pm prior to services at the church. The interment will follow the services at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
