Dwayne Scott Mahan

Dwayne Scott Mahan, 40, was called home to his father in heaven on February 26, 2014 after a long battle with Cirrhosis. He passed peacefully with his loving wife Klista by his side. Dwayne was born January 15, 1974 to Diana Krueger Carter and R. Michael Mahan in Fresno, CA. After spending his early years in the sunshine state he moved to Pocatello with his mother and sister. There, Dwayne attended school at Jefferson Elementary, Irving Jr. High, and Pocatello High School. Dwayne married Nickcole Tubbs in 1993 and together they had three children, Michael, Aizlynn and Jameson. They were later divorced. In 2002 Dwayne married Suzanne Williams. Together they had a son, Carrick, and were later divorced. In 2009 Dwayne married Klista Britton and welcomed three more daughters to the family, Kali, JayCe, and RaeLee. Dwayne spent many Sundays in front of the TV to cheer on his favorite sports teams. He was an avid NASCAR fan and held out hope that Dale Earnhardt JR would someday win the championship. He watched every Minnesota Vikings game he could find and would cheer along with the stands "Go Vikings". Hockey season would bring the Maple Leafs to his list of teams as he had a friendly competition with his cousin, Jason, as to who was the best team. Many of his fondest memories of life, centered around the adventures during camping and fishing trips with family. He spent some cold winter days scavenging metal from the area with his best friend Charles Hale. Dwayne is survived by his wife Klista Britton-Mahan (Pocatello), sons Michael, Jameson (both of Pocatello) and Carrick (Idaho Falls), daughters Aizlynn, Kali Wanstrom, JayCe Wanstrom and RaeLee Wanstrom (all of Pocatello). He is survived by his mother Diana Carter and second dad Brad Carter. He is also survived by siblings Suzi Mahan (Sunnyvale, CA), William Carter (Salt Lake City), Carl Carter (Boise), Zachariah Mahan (Auberry CA), Sara Prieb (Indonesia), Rachel Thomas (Clovis, CA) and his favorite cousin Jason Krueger (Boise). He was preceded in death by his father R. Michael Mahan, Grandmother Eunice L Krueger and Grandfather Allen Carter. As per his wishes, Dwayne was cremated under the care of Colonial Funeral Home. A memorial service, conducted by Bishop Ben Christensen, is scheduled for Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 12 Noon at the LDS Pocatello West Stake 9th Ward Building 4010 Hawthorne Rd. (corner of Hawthorne and Quinn Rd's), Pocatello. Family will receive friends from 11 am to 12 noon, at the church, prior to the services .
