Dwayne J. (D.J.) Sorenson, 85, returned to his Father in Heaven, late Saturday night, October 31, 2015. He passed away at the home of his daughter, Tresa, following an illness. He was born September 5, 1930, to Leon Sorenson and Lillis M. Tippets Sorenson, in Georgetown, Idaho. He graduated from Georgetown High School in 1948. D.J. was married to June (Caldwell) Warren, of Paris Idaho, from September 5, 1954 to June 24, 1965. They had two sons, Brandon G. (Jacki) Sorenson, of Pocatello, and Leon Dwayne, who lived for only 15 hours. He later married Karen Lu Millward, of Pocatello, July 16, 1976, and they were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 1, 1996. She had three daughters from a previous marriage, Cindy (Scott) McKinnon, of Pocatello, Brenda (David Madsen) Fowler, of Inkom, and Tresa (Steve) Daniels, of Pocatello. In the fall of 1948, D.J. started working for the Union Pacific Railroad in the signal department. It was there that he learned electrical work and was foreman for a while. Around 1954-55 he started working at Monsanto Chemical Co. in Soda Springs, and also did some freelance electrical wiring for private parties. In the fall of 1957, he moved to Pocatello and started working for INEEL as an Electrician and foreman. He worked there until retiring in 1993. As a child, D.J. lived on a ranch and loved horses and roaming in the fields with his dog Jack. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, collecting guns, and because it was not in his nature to be idle, he was always tinkering with or fixing something. He and his wife, Karen, loved to get in the car and drive to see new things. His family and his church were the most important things to him. He always provided for and made sure his family knew that they were loved. He is survived by his son, Brandon; step-daughters, Cindy, Brenda, and Tresa; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his infant son, Leon; parents, Leon and Lillis; brother, Darwin; wife Karen; and sister, Bonnie. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 11am at the LDS Alameda 5th Ward Church, 1440 Lakeview Dr. Pocatello, ID 83201 with a viewing from 10-10:45 am prior to the service.
