Duane Whitworth

Duane Whitworth, 82, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family following an extended illness.

He was born to Alta and Joe Whitworth on May 26th 1937 in Pocatello, Idaho. He was the third son born into the family with one brother, Max, and four sisters following; Leila, Loretta, Gloria, Paula, and Renae. Also three adopted siblings; Debbie, John Clyde, and Dale.

Duane attended Inkom Elementary and high school until his senior year. He graduated from Marsh Valley High School in 1956.

Duane married Linda Hammer in 1959; his lifelong companion and sweetheart. Two daughters were born to this union; Melissa and Wendy, both miracle babies.

Duane grew up in Inkom working with his dad on the farm and milking cows. He had to divide his time between football practice and chores.
He served many years in the National Guard. He made a living for himself and his family in the roofing business. He mentored many with patience and care.

He enjoyed working with the 4H kids. He also enjoyed Dutch Oven Cooking, camping, hunting and fishing; although he never kept any fish.
He leaves behind his wife of 60 years; children, Wendy (Troy) Ward, and Melissa (Greg) Olson; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, and a grandson Neil Andersen.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 801 N. Rapid Creek Road in Inkom, Idaho. Interment will follow in the Inkom Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Caring Hearts and Heritage Hospice for the wonderful care they took of Duane and also his family.
