Duane "Post" B. Norton

d. August 6, 1948

Duane "Post" B. Norton was born in Burley, Idaho on August 6, 1948. He later moved to Blackfoot and then settled in Pocatello. He attended Roosevelt Elementary, Alameda Jr. High and Graduated from Pocatello High School in 1967. After graduating he attended Idaho State University. He met his soul mate and love of his life, Lynda Honas (and her son John, age 8), in 1978 and have been together ever since. Duane joined the National Guard out of high school and was active for four years. He worked for Bannock Cleaning, Anderson Lumber, and moved pipe in the summer during high school. After graduating college, he was employed by Western State Equipment and was a loyal employee for 40 years, where he recently retired in July, 2013. Duane thoroughly enjoyed those he worked for and with. He was an Eagle Scout and earned his Duty to God Award and received his Arrow of Light Award. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Duane enjoyed his annual Canada fishing trips with Jerry Hall and Ken Covert and the rest of the gang. Duane loved hunting, fishing, car shows, Corvette runs, watching grandkids play sports; he loved the outdoors, and coin as well as gun collecting. He hated yard work and cleaning. He was very good at tinkering on cars and fixing stuff. He was always there for you, whatever you needed. If he could help, he would. Duane is survived by his mother, Dorothy Norton; soul mate, Lynda Honas; son, John (Tina) Pein; grandsons, J.T. Pein and Sage Pein, all of Pocatello; brothers, Dan (Karen) Norton, of Florence, Oregon, and Brian (Jerri) Norton, of Elko, Nevada; sisters, LaRae (R.B.) Long and Janet Heiner, both of Pocatello; sister, Julie (Chad) Marlow, of Blackfoot, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray B. Norton; great nephew, Kristopher Madden Kelly; grandparents, Percy and Emma Worthington and Henry and LaVina Norton. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 25, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. at the Colonial Funeral Home (2005 S 4th Avenue). A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 24, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and also one hour prior to service on Friday at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow services at Mountain View Cemetery with military honors by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard. Condolences may be made to the family at www.Colonial-FuneralHome.com.
