Robert "Duane" John, a long time Pocatello resident, passed away at his home on September 7, 2016, he was 86 years old. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed motorcycles, camping, hunting, and fly fishing with good friends. Duane was instrumental in beginning the recreation in Seagull Bay. He knew every reservoir, river, and creek; no bass could hide from him. Born in Pocatello, Duane graduated from Pocatello High School (Class of 1949), enlisted in the U.S. Army, and served honorably during the time of the Korean War. Upon discharge, he returned to Pocatello and worked for the Conoco Bulk Plant, Boise Cascade, and Kraft, as a line mechanic. Duane was both inventive and talented, and could fix or modify anything; his natural mechanical ability was enhanced by the Idaho State University Vocational Technical courses. His knowledge of current events made for exciting conversations. Duane was one of three brothers, and was preceded in death by his father and mother, Cecil John and Evelyn Wright; his brother, Wesley John; and his infant son, Larry John. Duane is survived by his brother, James Wright; nephews; and nieces. Cremation has taken place and there will be no services held. Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID, is caring for Duanes family.
