Duane Hottel

Edward "Duane" Hottel, 72, passed away peacefully at home in Chubbuck on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 with his loving wife, Jolene Lucile Bristol. Duane was born November 13, 1945 to Benjamin Franklin Hottel and Eva Margaret Porrit. Duane attended Roosevelt Elementary, Alameda Jr. High, Pocatello, Highland, and Marsh Valley High schools. He enjoyed playing football at Alameda with his good friend John "Butch" Knutson. Duane met Jolene when her sister bribed her with $0.50 to go on a double date. They married December 3, 1965 and were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple October 28, 1978. They were blessed with two children, Shane (Joleen), CA, and Evevanne, UT, and granddaughter, Abigail, the joy of his life. Duane worked hard as a Tire Technician specializing in off-road tires for 25 years. He also worked long hours as a truck driver and made many friends shuttling railroaders. Duane was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In retirement, Duane and Jolene enjoyed many service opportunities. They cherished 5 years as service missionaries at the Desert Industries where Duane taught and certified many on forklift operation. They also volunteered in the Idaho Falls Temple serving in the laundry and cafeteria. He is survived by his wife; children; granddaughter; sisters, Ann Vaughn, UT, Mae Hitchcock, Pocatello, Chris Hill, WI, Peggy (Danny) Mielke, CA; and brothers, John, Georgetown, and Lester, NV. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, William "Bill", Steve, and Benjamin "Benny". Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 12 noon at the LDS church, 4775 Hawthorne Rd. Chubbuck, ID 83202- Corner of Hawthorne and Chubbuck Road, with viewings on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello and for one hour prior at the church. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello.
