POCATELLO - Andrew Doyle Matkin, 72, of Pocatello, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2011. He was born on July 21, 1938. He was the son of Andy and Judy Hendrickson Matkin. Doyle lived in Swan Lake until he was six years old when his parents divorced. He moved to Pocatello with his mother where he attended schools. He joined the Air Force at age 17 and was stationed in Hawaii where he met Evelyn Kimura. They had 2 children Penny and Curtis. They were later divorced. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1958. After the service, Doyle worked for his brother at Sinclair Gas at the corner of 5 th and Humboldt. Doyle did odd jobs until he started at Bannock Paving as a laborer and later worked up to superintendent until he retired. He was a member of the Elks Club and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He also helped start the SEI Snowmobile Association in the 60's. Doyle loved the rodeo and was a volunteer and very big supporter of the DNCFR. He could sell ice to an Eskimo, he just had that kind of charisma. He also loved collecting rodeo memorabilia such as coats, belt buckles, hats, and shirts. He is survived by his daughter Penny (Bob) Svancara of Pocatello; siblings, Randy Matkin of Smithfield, Ut; Kim Matkin of Pocatello; Margie Arnold of Layton, Ut; Sonny Caudle of Spokane, Wa; 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and his ex-wife Evelyn Buckowski of Miliani, Hawaii He is preceded in death by his wife Pat Matkin; son Curt Matkin; grandson Aaron Svancara; father Andy Matkin; mother Judy Matkin; brother Royce Matkin; brother Kayle Matkin; sister Andrea Phelps; and brother Jay Matkin. A viewing will be held from 6 - 8 pm Sunday evening, February 13, 2011 at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello.
