Douglas Scott Toben

November 9, 1962 — March 18, 2024

Doug passed away on March 18, 2024, with his daughters by his side. Doug was born November 9, 1962, in Grand Island NE. He was the son of Wendell and Beverly Toben. He was the oldest of 4 children.

Doug attended school in Doniphan, Nebraska and graduated in 1981. He then went on to pursue a college degree from Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis, Nebraska. He lived his dreams from the start chasing the rodeo circuit. When he heard the mountains calling, he headed west to Pocatello, Idaho. While living in Pocatello, he married Cindy Aalborg. Together they had two daughters. Amanda was born in 1986 and Heather joined 5 years later in 1991. They later divorced.

Doug worked most of his career in the tire industry, starting at Commercial Tire before moving to Big O Tires and working under Vern and Maxine Nielson. He made many lifelong friends while working at Big O Tires. He took a brief break from tires to move to Elko, Nevada to work for Barrick Gold Mines. Upon his return to Pocatello, he found his way back to tires at Les Schwab Tire Center.

When Doug wasn’t working, he loved to spend time on the Salmon River at a family friend’s cabin. He loved spending time in both Stanley and Challis, Idaho. He often enjoyed taking trips to Elko, Nevada to visit friends he made while living there. He also had a love for reading, baking, gardening, spending time with his cats and watching Nascar on Sundays.

Doug loved to support his grandchildren at all of their sporting events when he could. If he was unable to attend, he would always call to see how the games went. He loved to spend time with his daughters and their families. He was stubborn and hard working while always being honest with a huge heart.

Doug is survived by his parents, Wendell and Beverly Toben of Doniphan, NE; his sisters, Denise (Marvin) Wiese of Doniphan, NE, Kristie Toben Kearney, NE, and Karla (Jermey) Collinson of Doniphan, NE; his daughters, Amanda (Ben) Lammers of Pocatello, ID, and Heather (Matt) Coito of Pocatello, ID; his five grandchildren, Jadon, Madison and Ryker Lammers and Baylee and Paxton Coito. He was also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry and Martha Toben and Walter and Erna Boltz as well as several aunts and uncles.
