Douglas J. Shepherd

Douglas James Shepherd, 46, was born on March 31, 1970 to Keith Irvin Mathews and Laura Ann Evans Mathews in Pocatello, Idaho. He spent most of his life in Pocatello with one year in California when he was young. He was raised and educated in Pocatello. He started working when he was 16 years old and continued throughout his life. He has worked in mechanics, fast food, restaurants, and client care. His first love was mechanics until they became computerized. At the time of his death he worked as a dishwasher at Mama Inez. He has always been a hard worker, no matter the job. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, and being with his nieces and nephew. He loved to take them camping and fishing, and showing them nature. He had many friends and helped a lot of people. He was always willing to give a helping hand, whether by snow-blowing the entire block, fixing peoples cars, or whatever needed to be done. Doug never married and never had children. He is survived by his mother, Laura Shepherd (James Shepherd); sister, Lisa Coleman; brothers, Cory Mathews (LaDawn Mathews) and Michael Mathews; 4 nieces and 4 nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Keith Irvin Mathews; stepmother, Rhonda Mathews; and grandparents. After a sudden and devastating illness, Doug passed away at the Portneuf Medical Center Critical Care Unit on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 11:00am. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening, January 5, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID.
