Dorothy Nelson

Dorothy Nelson, 86, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 in Alabama. She was born on September 2, 1928 in Metter, Georgia where she lived during her younger years. She graduated from Metter High School in 1945. She then attended Secretary School in Savannah, Georgia in 1947. She met Kyle W. Nelson and they married in 1949. Dorothy resided in Pocatello, Idaho until 2009 at which time she moved to live with her daughter in Jacksonville, Florida. They recently relocated to Prattville, Alabama in December 2014 where she resided until her death. Dorothy was a Domestic Engineer who raised 6 beautiful children who have become very successful. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church. Dorothy enjoyed doing crafts, crocheting, quilting, reading novels, and spending time outdoors with her husband and family. She is survived by sons, Mike Nelson of Fresno, California, Jeff Nelson of American Falls, Idaho; daughters, Maria Will of Prattville, Alabama, Patricia Kowalski of Anaheim, California; 13 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Kyle W. Nelson, daughter, Marie Nelson Ely, and son, John Nelson. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 2 PM at Colonial Funeral Home 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID 208-233-1500. Family will meet with friends from 12 PM to 1:30 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Pocatello, ID.
