Dorothy Murphy

January 23, 1951 — September 21, 2023

Dorothy (“Dot”) Farris Murphy, 72, passed away on September 21, 2023, while resting peacefully in her home. She was born on January 23, 1951 to Gladys and Cyril Farris, who raised her with her brother and four younger sisters – Theresa, Darcy, September and Jami. Dot graduated from Highland High School and attended Idaho State University, and was a member of the Shoshone Bannock Tribes.

Dot married Larry Zaccardi in 1972 and had their babies, Jeremy and Cyleene, and helped raise Larry’s young children, Nicki and Bryan. They later divorced in 1995, but remained friends and supported each other until he passed away in 2019. She married William Murphy in 2002, and they enjoyed many fishing and camping adventures together as they explored Idaho until he passed away unexpectedly in 2008. Dot later met Bruce “Mac” Machurek, and he became the love of her life from that point on. They were inseparable and in love through the end of her life – in fact, she spent her last night snuggled up with him in their bed, which is exactly where she wanted to be.

Throughout her life, Dot enjoyed being outdoors with friends and family and was passionate about taking care of people. She loved her grandchildren so much and ended every phone conversation with her daughter saying, “give the boys a kiss.” She and Mac enjoyed camping and traveling to visit family, and delighted in the little things they shared, like listening to music and dancing on the deck.

Dot is survived by her sisters, September Myres and Jami (Lewis) Farris; daughter, Cyleene (Justin) Gollob, and grandsons, Tristan and Julian; step-children and grandchildren, Nicki (Tim) Melton and Bryan (Tamara) Zaccardi and families; numerous nieces and nephews; and the love of her life, Mac Machurek. She was preceded in death by her son, Jeremy Zaccardi, parents and five siblings.

The family would like to express gratitude to the staff of Symbii Home Health and Hospice, especially her nurse, Jessica.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 1 pm at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 248 N. Arthur Avenue in Pocatello, Idaho.
