Dorothy Grace Wortley, 88, of American Falls passed away Nov. 3, 2014 at a Pocatello care center. She was born April 4, 1926 in Salem Oregon to William Glenn Haight and Anna Ello (Smith) Haight the youngest of 7 children. At the age of two, her family moved to Hamer, Idaho to farm. In 1938, they moved to Howe, Idaho where she liked to attend dances. Dorothy met the love of her life, Chester Lynn Wortley at a dance in 1940 and they married December 31 of that year. They moved around between Darlington, Spencer, and Howe working different jobs until 1952 when they once again made Howe their full time home. They were blessed with five children. Lynn passed away in 1966, she never remarried feeling no other man could take his place. After Lynn passed away, she continued to raise their children and worked cleaning houses, doing laundry and in the potato harvest. Dorothy always raised a large garden and canned most of the family's food. She moved to American Falls in 1975 to work at Lamb Weston until she retired in 1988. Dorothy was a member of the LDS church. She enjoyed being in the mountains with her family. While Lynn and the kids fished, she would rock hunt and had a large rock collection. She collected oil lamps, and had hundreds. Dorothy also loved doing genealogy and going to yard sales. She was always there to help any friends or family that needed her. She is survived by daughters, Ruth Montross and Marie (Ron) Schmitgall; son, Tommy (Reta) Wortley; 17 grandchildren, 35 great- grandchildren and 7great- great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lynn, sons; Carl (Sue) Wortley, and Glen Wortley; two grandchildren, Michael Montross and Rena Schmidtgall, great grandson, Justice Campbell; brothers, William Haight, Charles (Lola) Haight, and Lynn (Edna) Haight, sisters; Josephine (Earl) Holden, Irene (Bill) Bowhay, and Ethel (Irvin) Lords. Funeral services will be Friday, November 7, 2014 at 11 AM at the AMERICAN FALLS LDS STAKE BUILDING, 111 Church Place, American Falls, ID. with a viewing for one hour prior to the services. Following the church services, a graveside service will take place in Howe, ID. where she is to be buried.
