Dorothy Anne Potter, 78, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021. She was born in Bancroft, ID on April 29, 1943 to Wilton and June Payne.
Dorothy graduated in 1961 and married her high school sweetheart David Potter on July 6, 1961 in Lewiston, Utah. They resided in Bancroft. In 1962 they moved to Idaho Falls to run the family farm. They soon began their family and resided in Idaho Falls until 1976 at which time they moved to Lava Hot Springs where they ran their farm together for 45 years. During that time Dorothy worked at various businesses in the community including delivering the newspaper to local residents for 25 years.
Dorothy was a beloved member of the community. She was lovingly referred to as “Ma Potter” by her children’s friends. Dorothy had a love for not only her family, but she dearly loved her chickens. Taking care of her chickens kept her going and motivated.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 60 years, David; and her 5 children, Lynn (Pam) of Lava Hot Springs, Doug of Lava Hot Springs, Darren (Nancy) of Spring Creek NV, Dan (Tami) of Spring Creek NV, and Debbie of Lava Hot Springs. Dorothy had 11 grandchildren, Kimberly, Jason, Timothy, Jakob, Chanee, Derek, Dustyn, Damion, Kayla, Maggie, and Calien, and 3 great-grandchildren, Marley, Dakota, and Addison.
A viewing will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Chapel, 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, ID.
Services will be on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 11 am also at Colonial Chapel with a viewing for one hour prior.
Burial will follow at the Lava Hot Springs Cemetery.
