Dorma Maria Layton Call

Dorma Maria Layton Call, 90, returned home to her loving Heavenly Father, December 7, 2016. She was born January 2, 1926 in Downey, Idaho to James John Layton and Maria Christina Housley. Her siblings are Elva (Selar) Marcum, Clair (Joan) Layton, Janit (Mike) Rodgers, and Maythel (Dorothy) Layton. She was preceded in death by sisters, Bersha (Fred) Harrison, Mada (Wendell - living) Edstrom; brother, Benjamin (Iris) Layton; sister, Reba Layton; sons-in-law, Lou Brown, Herm Bronson; grandson, Alan Burke; and granddaughter, Amy Rodriguez. Growing up, she loved farming with her "Papa" and riding horses. She was an avid reader and loved the Book of Mormon. Dorma married Gerald Sylvester Call on September 22, 1943 in the Logan, Utah temple. They were married for 47 years before Gerald passed away on June 10, 1990. Dorma graduated with honors as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1953. She also spent many dedicated years as the Bishop Storehouse secretary. Dorma enjoyed crocheting for humanitarian projects, reading her Kindle (Bobby), and indexing hundreds of thousands of names for family history- for which she received an honorable award. She was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities. She loved teaching Relief Society. Dormas family meant everything to her. She has eight children; including two sets of twins, Evelyn Brown (Herm) Bronson, Connie (Glen) Burke, Steve (Debra) Call, Jo Ann (twin) (Lynn) Andersen, Jim (twin) (Nedra) Call, Jerry (twin) (Laurie) Call, Terri (twin) (Kyle) Palmer, and Clair Call. Dorma has 28 grandchildren and 62 great-grandchildren. Dormas eight children would like to honor their mother for her many sacrifices and for instilling in them a testimony of the gospel. A viewing will be on Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 5-7 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, ID. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 11 am at the LDS Chapel, 4010 Hawthorne Rd. Chubbuck, ID 83202 (Corner of Hawthorne & Quinn Road), with a viewing from 9-10:30 am prior to the services. Burial will follow at the Arbon Valley Cemetery.
