Doris Benson, 77, of Pocatello, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, from complications with surgery. She was born on March 13, 1932 in Park City, Utah to John and Lorna Hill. She was the oldest of 6 children and grew up in Leadore, Idaho. In her youth she loved fishing and riding horses. She married Bobbie Edward Anderson on October 10, 1951 in Salmon, Idaho. Together they had five children: Rocky, Jeannie, Gary, Ricky and Kyle. They divorced after 23 years of marriage. On November 27, 1974 she married K.C. Benson in Elko, Nevada. When they were married, KC added four children, Becky, Linda, Randy and Keith. He preceded her in death in 1998. Doris worked at Lamb Weston for 25 years before retiring in 1998. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was an avid bowler and participated in every state tournament for years. She was also talented with ceramics, crocheting, quilting, and with flower gardens. The focus of her life was her family and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, son Rocky Anderson; and a brother Dean Hill. She is survived by daughter Jeannie (Randy) Peterson, Rigby; ID, 3 sons, Gary (Sherry) Anderson, Pocatello, ID; Ricky (Sharon) Anderson, Leadore, ID; Kyle (Valerie) Anderson, Leadore, ID; step-children Becki Davis, Portland, OR; Linda (Gene) Lindsey of Miamisburgh OH; Randy (Sherri) Benson, Pineville, OR; Keith (Maureen) Benson, Pocatello; family members Barry Bobbi Barber, Pocatello and Elsie Larry Dickerson, Malad, ID; sister, Carol Kinghorn, Pocatello; brother David (Betty) Hill, St. Louis, MO; sister, Laverne (Roger) Lee, Klamath Falls, OR; sister Loraine Collinsworth, Las Vegas, Nevada; 24 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S 4th Ave. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 17, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow the funeral service at Restlawn Memorial Park.
