Donna Schmidt

Donna Parkin Schmidt, 91, of Pocatello, returned to her heavenly home on February 6, 2019. She died of natural causes, due to age, at her son's home.

Donna was born on October 19, 1927 to Don Carlos Parkin and Ethel Eliza Christensen in Cowley, Wyoming. Donna was the 6th of seven children.

Donna spent her early years in Cowley and Basin Wyoming. She graduated from Basin High School in 1945. Following graduation, she worked in San Francisco, CA as a tele-typist. She later moved to Idaho Falls, ID where she met Harold Daniel Schmidt. They were married on Aug. 20, 1948 in Basin, Wyoming. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Harold and Donna made their family home in Fort Hall, ID where they lived for 55 years. Donna was a wonderful cook and homemaker. She loved to sew and quilt and made clothing and quilts for her loved ones. She worked as a school cook at Fort Hall Elementary for 23 years.

She retired in 1991. During retirement, she enjoyed family gatherings, socializing with friends, and crocheting. She crocheted hundreds of items for the Humanitarian Aid Project, the Veterans Home, and local hospitals. Her family and friends were also happy recipients of her beautiful handiwork.

After the death of her husband, Harold, Donna moved to Cottonwood Cove Retirement Community where she lived for 7 years. For the past year, she resided with her son, Stephen, and daughter-in-law, Monna.

Donna was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served in Relief Society and Primary.

Donna is survived by her daughter Marsha (Gary) Delaney of Pingree, ID, son Stephen (Monna) Schmidt of Blackfoot, ID, daughter Rhonda (Al) Silvers of Fresno, CA, son Richard "Rick" Schmidt of Fort Hall, ID, and daughter Cynthia (Pat) Nunez of Lewiston, ID, as well as 21 grandchildren, 41 Great Grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren. Donna is preceded in death by her husband Harold, son Michael, infant daughter Jana Kay, and granddaughter Christina Delaney.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 11, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck, ID, with a viewing prior from 11:45 am - 12:45 pm. Interment at Grove City Cemetery, Blackfoot, ID.
