Donna G. Burke, 81, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at a local medical center. She was born January 23, 1936 in Arimo, Idaho daughter of Robert Cutler Cole and Carmen Naef Cole. In the summer of 1955, when Donna was living with her sister Lois and working at Rowland's Dairy, she went to church and saw a young man there and she knew he would be the guy she would marry. She married Grant Burke on February 10, 1956 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They were blessed with four children, AlmaLyn, Blair, Heather and Lon. Due to some childhood medical disabilities Donna had to overcome several obstacles as a child. Donna was a quiet and reserved person as a child but later became outgoing with the love and support of her husband Grant. Donna always loved children so in September 1965 she started caring for other people's children and that was the start of "Burkes Daycare". Donna really enjoyed owning and operating Burkes Daycare for 35 years. Along with her family of four she also cared for foster children in the 60s. Later she had the blessing of raising her two granddaughters, Brook and Britney. She cared for and raised them as if they were her own children. In January 1999 she closed her daycare with sadness because she really became fond of all the children she cared for. Donna really enjoyed taking the children on trips, going camping, going to Lagoon or Disneyland. She would often take her mother with them as she was a lot of fun to have around. Donna was preceded in death by her husband; parents; 2 sisters, Lois Johnson, and Arlene Cole; brother, Wayne Cole; and sister-in-law, Mary Jo Cole. She is survived by her children, AlmaLyn Burke, Pocatello, Blair (Shauna) Burke, Chubbuck, Idaho, Heather (Bill) Sheridan, Jupiter, Florida, Lon Burke, Denver, Colorado; five grandchildren, Brook, Britney, Jason, Adrienne, and Monica; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the LDS Highland 11th Ward Chapel located at 2000 S. Fairway Dr., Pocatello, ID . A viewing will be held from 6-8 pm on Friday, December 8, 2017 at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave, Pocatello, Idaho , and from 10-11 am on Saturday at the church prior to services.
