Donetta K Messenger

October 31, 1945 — January 31, 2023

October 31, 1945 - what a splendid day to be born! Many families rejoiced that night. Dressing up, painting their faces & going out to trick or treat. As for me, well I was snuggled up close to my mother, enjoying this beautiful world, all happy and warm.

DonEtta K "Donnie" Messenger passed away on January 31, 2023. She was 77. Donnie was the first-born child from the union of Bud & June Messenger on October 31, 1945. She was born in Ogden, Utah. Donnie was a longtime Pocatello resident. She had an adventurous life, living in California, Idaho, Oregon, Utah and Washington.

Donnie was a very hard worker. She was employed at the Student Union Building for many years and worked for over a decade at Elmer’s Pancake & Steak House as Head Hostess. Her work ethic was second to none. Donnie had a friendly smile and showed genuine kindness and care to all she met.

Donnie’s favorite activities were spending time with her family & reading. Donnie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Reading her scriptures, singing hymns, temple visits and teaching the Sunbeams when she was young were joyful times in her life.

As a single mom, she raised her 3 children: Kimmie, Bobbi & Billy. She was a loving, fierce and determined mother. She loved becoming a Grandma and adored all of her Grandchildren: Kris, Zack, Whitney, Tiffany, Kinzey, Alexa, Kaegan, Kylie & David.

Her great grandchildren filled her heart with joy: Joon, Brynlee, Maevis, Xander, Alphonse, Timbre & Arya.

She will be missed & loved dearly.

Donnie lived at Brookdale Chubbuck during the last years of her life. She enjoyed her playful banter with the staff there. They all showed her much love & care, often stating how much she made them smile. She was on long term hospice with Enhabit. Her family greatly appreciates all the care and support Donnie received from both.

Donnie was preceded in death by her parents: Bud and June, as well as by her four sisters and brother: Janice, Judy, Debbie, Tammy & Wayne.

She is survived by her children Kimberly (Mike) Timothy, Bobbette (John) Thompson and Billy (Cassie) Gregg; along with her siblings Arlin, Vivian, and Kathy; and her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Donnie’s honor on February 11, 2023, from 2-4 pm at Wilks Funeral Home 211 W. Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck, ID 83202.
