Donald Stevens, 90, passed away at home under the care of his family on Tuesday, July 17, 2018. Don was born in Salmon, Idaho on June 10, 1928 to Jack and Martha Stevens. Don grew up on a family ranch in the Carmen Creek area along with eight siblings. Upon finishing school he enlisted with the United States Navy and was deployed to Hawaii in the aftermath of the Pearl Harbor attack. Before leaving for his military duty, he and his future wife Lucille had dated and danced on several occasions. They were married not long after his return from his service and began a life together that would last a lifetime for each. They started their family in Salmon and soon made the decision to move to Pocatello in the footsteps of several siblings who had found work with Garrett Freightlines. Don dedicated his entire career to Garrett with millions of miles driven on the roads and highways of the Western US. At home, he and Lucille raised two children, Ann and Brad, and eventually the grandchildren too became an integral part of their life together in Pocatello. The homes they lived in were always the gathering place for family and friends for meals, celebrations, memorials, and projects. As anyone would attest to, the yards and gardens were always spectacular and were often a focal point of their time and enjoyment. During and after Dons career, family trips back to Central Idaho for camping and fishing were always a priority and remain as some of the best memories for all. Don and Lucille took leadership roles in the forming and construction of Faith Lutheran Church. They were active members for several decades and continued to remain faithful throughout their lives. Don also found tremendous enjoyment and challenge in practicing and improving his bowling game with many lifetime friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents; each of his siblings; and his wife, Lucille. He is survived by his children, Ann (Dan), Brad (Barbara), and Odessa (Adrian); six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 11 am at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho, with a viewing for one hour prior. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 2864 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho.
