Don Reier

January 20, 1940 — December 9, 2012

Donald Dean Reier, 72 of Chubbuck, Idaho passed away on December 9, 2012 at his home in Chubbuck, Idaho after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born January 20, 1940 in Beatrice, Kansas to Jacob William Reier and Arlene Bender Reier. He was raised and attended schools in Washington, Kansas. He married Wana Jean Callaway on June 21, 1964. He is survived by: his wife Wana; son, William Foster (Michelle) Reier, daughter, Jolene Kay (Perry) Swift, granddaughters': Kendra Gelles, Makayla Gelles, Kimberly Reier and Danielle Reier, a sister, Delores Zurfluh of Salina, Kansas. Don was preceded in death by: his parents and a brother Jacob William (PUG) Reier Jr.

Don graduated from Washington, Kansas High School in 1958 and then enlisted in the United States Navy serving aboard the SS Red Fin submarine. Don was honorably discharged in 1962 and went to work for the OPPD electrical utility company in 1962 in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1969, he changed careers and joined Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha, Nebraska. Don was transferred to Pocatello, Idaho in 1970 by Union Pacific Railroad and served there as an Electronic Technician until his retirement in 2000.

Don was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. He served the community for twenty one years as a volunteer basketball coach in the Pocatello Youth Basketball league.
