Dino James Rosa , 87, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016. He was born in Pocatello, Idaho to Abele G. and Maria Bonacina Rosa on May 3, 1928. Dino enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1943. This lasted until they discovered that he was only 15. He turned 17 in May of 1945, and was able convince his father to sign the papers enabling him to enlist. After completing basic training he was assigned duty on the Aircraft Carrier USS WASP as a Captains Orderly. At wars end, he was honorably discharged. He married Velma (Betty) Jensen on January 13, 1947. They later divorced. Dino and Betty were blessed with seven children; Gloria (Dr. Craig) Marley of Nampa, Idaho, Frank (Susan) Rosa, David (Sue) Rosa, Vivian (Robert) Warth, Ted (Annette) Rosa, Greg (Cheri) Rosa and Diana (Roger) Gull. Dino went to work at the Naval Ordinance Plant. He then worked at Haps Conoco Station and at the Bannock Motor Dealership. Later he completed Diesel Technical School and worked for Garrett Freightlines until his retirement. Dino is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Roy Rosa; and four grandchildren, Jesse, Braedon, Britain and Joshua. He is survived by his children; 32 grandchildren and 65 great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID, 208-233-1500. Funeral services will be on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 11:30 am at the St. Anthony Catholic Church, 524 N. 7 th Ave. Pocatello, ID with a viewing for one hour prior to services at the church. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, ID.
