POCATELLO - Diane Skenandore, 89, of Pocatello, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at her home. She was born on January 1, 1922 to Frank and Connie Najor in Garnerville, Nevada. He father was Basque and her mother died when she was 5 or 6 years old. As a young girl she liked to beat the boys at baseball and basketball. She was raised in Stewart Indian School in Carson City, Nevada, and graduated around 1940. Diane married Charles Elmer Skenandore and together they had 6 children. Charlie fought in WWII and Daine lived in Silver City, NV with their three children Charlie, Sharon, and Carol. After the war the family moved to Idaho and Charlie worked as a heavy equipment operator. More children were born in Idaho: Dennis and Janine. Charlie died in 1985 of natural causes. Diane worked as an LPN when the children were young. Later she went back to ISU and got a BA in Social Work. She loved reading, sewing, painting, ceramics, and going fishing with her husband Charlie. She also loved being with her grandchildren and loved her pet dog Chubby. She enjoyed going thrift store shopping and hard games in her younger days. She is survived by her children Sharon Skenandore of Chubbuck; Carold (Jim) Moore of Palm Springs, CA; Dennis (Kelly) Skenandore of Inkom; Janine Skenandore of Pocatello; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie, her parents, and sons Charles and Baby Boy Skenandore.
