On June 7, 1938, Charles “Tim” and Velma Bullock welcomed their second child and first daughter, Lorna Diane. Little “Di” was raised on several family farms in Tyhee through high school. Just after graduating from high school, Diane met and married Samuel Graydon Smith on August 31, 1956.
Living in Pocatello, Diane worked as a secretary in a law firm before becoming a full time mother. Over the years, Diane and Sam had five children together. Diane and Sam divorced in 1976 and she went to work at American Micro Systems (AMI) where she filled several positions, including executive secretary to several company presidents, before retiring in 1993.
Diane married Robert “Bob” Moyer in 1979. Together they moved to her parent’s ranch in McCammon, while Diane continued to work in Pocatello and Bob in Soda Springs. They enjoyed boating, camping, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, and traveling the US in their RV. Bob’s four children, Thonda, Helen, Dan, and Darla as well as their children and grandchildren, were deeply loved by Diane and remained an important part of her life.
Following Bob’s death in 2002, she took up crafting, furniture restoration/painting, countertops, and produced many beautiful items. She enjoyed welcoming her grandchildren and great grandchildren to her home. She loved reading, watching the birds in feeders stationed around her home and sitting on the front porch or in her swing enjoying the stunning views of the Portneuf Range, roaming cattle, nesting eagles and owls, and waving to passing neighbors. She took care of her mother and brother Bud in their declining years. Diane stayed active walking several miles a day, doing yard work and home projects into her early 80s. She tried to always stay active, even after a stroke, walking on the ranch almost every day. She leaves a legacy of love and hard work.
She passed away on November 16, 2024, in her home with her family.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents Charles “Tim” and Velma, two brothers, Darrell and Lamar “Bud,” and both husbands, Sam and Bob. She is survived by her five children: Kristi, Sam, Brian (Alisa), Tim (Lora) and Tom, seven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
