Derick Rodney Peterson

Derick Rodney Peterson, 42, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2017. Derick was born on July 23, 1975 in Pocatello, ID. He attended school in Pocatello and Soda Springs and graduated from Soda Springs High School in 1993. After he graduated he met Amanda Peterson, whom he married in 1998. Together they had two beautiful daughters, Jacquelyn in March of 2000 and Taryn in May of 2003. They eventually relocated to Idaho Falls, ID with his job at Intermountain Gas where he dedicated over 16 years. Derick loved life so very much. He loved being outside, camping and hunting with his family and friends. He loved traveling and going on adventures with those he loved. He had a passion for snowmobiling, serving several years on the board for Idaho State Snowmobile Association and was actively involved with the Idaho Falls club, Mountain River SnoRiders. Derick enjoyed playing music in various bands throughout the years. He especially enjoyed sharing his love of music with his daughters at different concerts and events. Derick loved giving back to his community by participating in many local fundraising events i.e. Relay for Life, Dancing with the Stars, Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry, and many others. He was always willing to help anyone else in need and went out of his way to make others feel included. He was an amazing son, father, brother, husband, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Derick is survived by his loving daughters, Jacquelyn & Taryn Peterson; his parents, Rod (Signe) Peterson & Lynn (Schuyler) DelCamp ; the mother of his children, Amanda Peterson; siblings, Josh Eyler, Tiffeny (Kris) Nielsen , Sarah Lindoff, Ryan (Brittney) Peterson; his aunts, Terry Peterson, Janet (Ted) Elmer, Bonnie Keeler, Lorna Keeler, Shellie (Steve) Eyler, Stephanie Cutberth, Lisa (Rob) Corcoran, Amber Kagel & Brooke Forney; uncles, Kevin (Holly) Wellard, Scott (Monica) Wellard, & Troy (Caralee) Gardner; grandparents, Gordan Wellard and Helen Isley ; he was adored by many nieces, nephews, & cousins. He had a special relationship with his cousins, Nicole & Shayla Van Horn, Camille Elmer, & Chloe Lemmon. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack & Edna Peterson and Larry & Betty Keeler. A Celebration of Life for Derick will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Pebble Creek Ski Area, located at 3340 E. Green Canyon Rd. Inkom, ID 83245.
